yooohoooooooooooo! it's time for the ALBUM OF THE YEAR REVIEW! yes yes, although it might be march, but trust me. it's definitely worth it! worth me getting the different countries' versions of the album. to get the freebies. and if the whole album consisted of jus ___________, i would still have been satisfied.

okay are we all ready for the album of the year?

here we go!

i especially love the 2nd picture!wheeeee!

1) in the beginning
i'll bet ahzi recorded this while in egypt cus i can imagine the sun rising and slowly beckoning the pyramids with its sunlight while the sand slowly settles down and we can see a distinguished layer between the dark and the light and then slowly introducing ahzi!
7.5/10

2) ni guang
the first zhu da of this album. now this is what i call HAUNTING MELODIC ROCK!woohoo!kinda quiet at first, but builds up gradually and i can actually feel my beloved's powerful vocals cus this song mus sing very powerfully if you get what i mean xD. and it's super duper encouraging, something like stepping AGAINST THE LIGHT!
8.5/10

3) meng you
WAHAHA i can relieve my childhood just by listening to this song. ahzi has also paid respect to the very simplest and basic manner of singing thru doh-re-mi-fa-soh-la-ti-doh!!!listen closely to the background music!although this song is quite simple and prolly more mature people wouldn't like it[kinda shows i still have an immature side to me xD], but very different from the current chinese pop music we're listening. i can imagine ahzi's MV to be like running through some CGI- induced cartoon films and singing this song like THE SOUND OF MUSIC!
8/10

4) gugi gugi
3 different styles of singing in jus one song. makes u feel like you have gotten a real deal because we can hear rock, rap and pop inside this song alone. plus the rap is soooooooo freaking cute! "let's wake up in the morning, and go to bed at night. let's make hay in the big sunshine, let's make hay in the light. let us bury the hatchet, let us get along. LET'S HOLD OUR HANDS AND SAVE THE WORLD!" wheeeeeee! so totally cute can! xD very easily to get high when i hear this song. and the musical ala phantom of the opera part in the middle is jus such a change of pace in this song!
8/10

5) wo huai nian de
yayy another ahzi love song!to be frank when i heard this song at first, i wasn't too impressed with it. but as i listened longer and longer i began to like this song. and i can feel the pain in the songs. yes, a totally cryable song. and a very technical song also. because the phrases in the song is quite different from the usual. for your info: DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS SONG WHEN YOU JUST BROKE UP WITH UR BF/GF or anything!you might feel like committing suicide. =D
9/10

6) an ning
the tong lei of this album!simple and short lyrics but very sad song. instrumentation simple and nice. and the whole song actually doesn't have a breakthrough but maintains its quiet and meaningful disposition. great for listening in the night when you're alone. but yes, do not listen to this song when you're feeling down. but i know people won't. they jus love listening to sad songs when they're feeling down. xD
8.5/10

7) piao zhe
MY FAVE PIECE OF THE ALBUM!beginning is quiet but builds up to HEAVY ROCK in the middle wahahhaa! and IMO, it's a love song to me. but yet also, a song that is inspiring because of the rock part!can actually imagine the clouds passing through as ahzi sings this song out on a grassy patch or in front of a pyramid =x with a rock band swinging here and there. xD love the bridge too!
9.5/10

8) ai qing de hua yang
okay i admit. i haven't exactly warmed up this song YET!because i cannot feel the disco in the song, although bee says there's an agogo feeling to it. and the tempo abit different. but it's quite ironic actually. i can tahan gugi gugi's drastic tempo change, but i cant tahan this hahaha. the lyrics haven't exactly appealed to me too lol. mebbe i gotta listen to it more times. =D
6/10

9) xuan wo
MY SECOND FAVE PIECE OF THE ALBUM! a totally jazzy blues number simply because of the trumpet in the background. and the voices that ahzi sorta replies to in the song. TOTALLY SPOOKY AND NICE!wahaha. and this song is soooooooooo laid back. feels like a song in which people can chill to in a lounge and with a jazz band behind =D=D totally lovely. and the change in the chorus is especially heartwrenching especially the part where she sings "WO AI NI, NA DE DUO". definitely a must listen for the album
9.5/10

10) xu yao ni
okay im beginning to warm up to this song. but i feel that it cant be exactly classified as a love song. quite an average song in my opinion. mebbe like ai qing de hua yang i gotta listen to it more times to get the feel of it. because it doesn't have any distinct feeling to it =x but her high notes are a bonus. damn they're so good
7.5/10

11) guan yu
LOL i thot this would be a fun song. but it turned out unusual. haha. i cant exactly put a finger onto what type of genre it belongs to. but the chorus and the verse doesn't exactly click with each other. oh well. have to say that the back part of the album doesn't exactly live up to standards yet. but im definitely sure it'll get better with every listen. because the singer is STEFANIE SUN YANZI!
6.5/10

12) afterward
LOL i forgot to review on this. IT'S ABSOLUTELY THE BEST PIANO PIECE I HAVE EVER HEARD!you know i can imagine that ahzi is walking on the deserts of egypt all alone with the foreboding sun going away and the rain clouds start to come in. it's really a SUPER DUPER nice piece to end off the entire album!OMG OMG OMG i soooooooooooooo love it. and i can imagine ahzi playing the piano on the sands. damn heartwrenching. XUETEEEEE! i tink im in love with this piano piece!
20 STARS OUT OF 10!!!!

lol overall i tink the album deserves a 8.5 or 9/10 for the sheer hard work that ahzi put in and for the different music that ahzi brings us. xD
