guess what anniversary is it?haha. and nope. im still not attached. haha.
anyways i jus skipped sch man. haha. totally no mood go school. too tired due to the camp haha. watching this new series now. it's about baking cakes and although the storyline is not that good, but the making of the cakes more than makes up for it. haha. and besides there's myolie. what's there to dislike? joe ma is handsome xD but i still dun like him WAHAHA
THE GATEAU AFFAIRS
The plot:
A master of cake making, Joe Ma is praised for his skills in cakes, He has been given the name 'Cake god.' because of his great knowledge on cake, and his creativity with the designs of cake. He is called 'Cake god' because he has never lost a competition regarding to cakes.
Joe's whole life was devoted into his work, thus his wife and son were done waiting their whole life. So they left. Joe, who found out after arriving at home, rushed to chase after them, however was too late when he was in a car crash. Without any thinking at all, he said he had a bomb in his box, just so the police won't stop him from going to the airport. He was then arrested, and came out in 3 years.
Myolie Wu opened a new bakery just to show that she can do something that she puts her mind to. She opened the bakery in order to show to her ex boyfriend that she has the skills in making cakes, and has the skills to obtain a bakery. However, her bakery was set on fire accidentally.
Myolie soon worked in the bakery, Gateaux, where she is a trainee. Needless to say, She and Joe are enemies from the get-go. Annie is the daughter of the owner of Gateaux. She is, once again, a spoiled rich daughter, who has nothing to do except find ways to get Joe Ma out of the bakery.
Bobo is a salesperson in Gateaux. She met Jack Wu in Gateaux, and they soon fall in love.
Character Analysis:
Joe Ma usually portrays a role where he shows very little emotion. Here, he acts the same kinds of role. Although I thought character should have more expressions, Joe Ma did a fairly good job. Yet I feel he can improve better. What I think he fails to do is to cry. I thought there were some scenes, where him crying would be the best, yet no tears were erupting.
Myolie Wu's character has a lot of anger towards the beginning. Her strive to open a bakery, then her devotion to beat Joe in a competition when she mistaken him for burning her bakery. her
character has a lot of anger towards Joe ma, which is quite acceptable. however when she starts having feelings towards Joe Ma, i felt weird with the character. Her actions seem odd, well to me that is.
Bobo Chan. This was the first series I've ever seen her in. I have to say she did a pretty good job. Although her character is suppose to smile a lot, her facial expression were weird at times. Yet, I felt she did a great job.
Jack Wu, is another person that I saw for the first time. He always brought a smile to my face, because he acted goofy. However when it came time to be serious, he knew how to portray the character pretty well. Not bad.
Annie Man took on another role as a snotty rich girl. And i have to say, she did a very good job. She's snotty, but she's not evil. so that's why you can't hate her, but only despise her But her character will develop later on, where she soon becomes nicer.
Chemistry:
Joe Ma and Myolie Wu
Their chemistry was ok. I can't say it was the best. Myolie has worked with numerous older actors, yet their chemistry here wasn't as great compared to her others. From anger, to understanding, to loving each other, their chemistry develops into a better state as each chapter goes on. Their love for cake-baking bought them together, yet it also tore them apart.
Bobo Chan and Jack Wu
Gosh, I love this couple. Why? Because they were just plain adorable. Bobo didn't believe in relationships because of what happened to her parents, with the divorce and everything. however Jack did everything in his power to make her believe in love once more. Absolutely great.
The imaginations:
Throughout the whole show, their were scenes where imagination took over. Mainly existing in Myolie's mind, the imaginations are hysterical. It absolutely made the series a much better series to be watching. The colors were used properly when they were describing how the cake tastes. Its fascinating.
The Cakes:
I think at this age, this is the most cakes have ever seen. I am astounded by the magnificent designs of cakes, the usage of colors, the usage of ingredients. I love how they had a topic, and they automatically created a cake regarding to the topic. Its beautiful, amazing, and hopefully tasteful. I wish i can eat them.
Favorite lines:
"You make cakes for people on their birthday. Yet our own son doesn't even get a cake from his father." joe's wife
"Its ok if you don't love me. But don't play me." Myolie.
Question:
If the store is spelled with an x, Gateaux, why is the title spelled
without it? Always wondered about that.
Watch it or not?
This is my second time making a review for TVBsquare, and so this time I'm going to say, watch it. Just seeing the cakes, the designs, the whole package of cake making, just makes everyone hungry.Its pretty good. However, if you're not much of a Joe and Myolie fan, skip this one.
hmmm so far im up to episode 9. the show is pretty good. although i definitely won't rave about myolie's dressing in this show. cus it's abit lup sap. hahaha. but but, i still stand by my point. the cake making is very very exciting xD
okay. i've let u guys waited for 15mins already.
