Men should not accept our destiny, we should choose it. Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.
These are the nominees for the 6th Astro Wah Lai Toi Awards, and I have to say, it's a pretty tough choice. There are probably many fan camps rooting for their favourites. But this list looks a little outdated though. Okay, here goes....!
My Favourite On-Screen Couple
1. War of In Laws 2 – Bosco Wong and Myolie Wu 2. Moonlight Resonance – Moses Chan and Tavia Yeung 3. Moonlight Resonance – Raymond Lam and Linda Chung 4. Forensic Heroes 2 – Kevin Cheng and Charmaine Sheh 5. A Journey Called Life – Steven Ma and Linda Chung
My pick: Definitely Moses and Tavia in MR! Gosh, I've been loving them since MR aired, and I think they were the ones who sparked the entire show!
My guess: Either Rayda or Charvin. As much as I would like Mota to win, but I think they aren't as popular as the two couples I mentioned earlier.

Moonlight Resonance – Michelle Yim as “Yan Hung” 20. Moonlight Resonance – Tavia Yeung as “Suen Ho Yuet”
My pick: Either Moses, Tavia, Raymond or Myolie. Haha! I'm biased I know.

What do you guys think? Who should win, who will win, and who should just get their ass off? Many potential candidates!
Men should not accept our destiny, we should choose it. Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.
Wheeee, the 2010 TVB Sales Presentation is out! Okay just a quick note: the shows for next year seems good. There's [Mysteries of Love], which stars Ray and Tavia together! Finally, after so many years (When will I ever get my new Rayolie series?!). There's also [Cops], which sees Felix Wong back in action with Michael Miu and Jessica Hsuan (WOOHOO!). Next, there's [Righteous Sea of Heroic Love], which stars Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang again together (Oh boy, my mum's going to love this!).
Other series include: Twilight Investigation, The Legend of Pu Song Ling, Growing through Life, Five Flavours of Life (which stars Esther Kwan!), Female Fist, Wu Jie Monk (Sounds stupid, is stupid and yes, will be stupid), Forensic Heroes III, Seven Days of Love Next Door (Myolie!) and finally, Here Comes The Princess.
Righteous Sea of Heroic Love
Cast: Wayne Lai, Sheren Tang, Raymond Wong, Fala Chen, Pierre Ngo, Kara Hui, Susan Tse, Nancy Wu, Ben Wong
Verdict: A definite must watch! Rosy Business took TVB by the storm this year, and I'm very sure its successor will take the storm too! And I love TVB shows set in the war era (i.e. War and Destiny)
Mysteries of Love
Cast: Raymond Lam, Tavia Yeung, Kenneth Ma, Bernice Liu
Verdict: Even though I'm a Rayolie fan, but I have been waiting for a Fungyi series for a super uber long time! The sales presentation clip looks interesting, and Tavia looks so cute inside here! (Hard to believe she's 30 years old). By filming this, I hope TVB will film another Rayolie series soon!
Cops
Cast: Felix Wong, Michael Miu, Jessica Hsuan, Nancy Wu
Verdict: Felix is back! I guess this show will be a thriller with so many powerhouse actors, and I'll be trying to watch this when it comes out! Felix+Michael+Jessica = success!
Five Flavours of Life
Cast: Roger Kwok, Esther Kwan, Michelle Yim, Derek Kwok, Oscar Leung, Mimi Lo
Verdict: Esther is back! Hahahahahhaa! But I'm not a fan of Roger at all, so I'll be waiting to hear reviews on it to see if it lives up to its expectations.
The Legend of Pu Song Ling
Cast: Steven Ma, Linda Chung, Fala Chen, Sunny Chan
Verdict: Why is TVB pairing Steven and Linda up so much! I think this is one too many series... but Sunny will be acting in it, and he's paired with.......Fala? Lol! Steven seems to be in alot of ancient dramas.. will be looking at reviews of this before deciding whether to watch it.
Seven Days of Love Next Door
Cast: Sammul Chan, Myolie Wu, Bobby Auyeung, Bowie Lam, Sonija Kwok, Crystal Tin, Evergreen Mak, Yoyo Mung
Verdict: WOW WOW! Look at the cast, omg, packed full of leading actors and actresses la! There's Myolie, which definitely makes this a must-watch for me. I think Sammul will be paired with Myolie. Haha, their last series together was [When Rules Turn Loose] in 2005 if I'm not wrong. Will be refreshing to watch this!
Female Fist
Cast: David Chiang, Liu Xuan, Eric Li
Verdict: Yawns, bores, not watching.
Wu Jie Monk
Cast: Bosco Wong, Kate Tsui, Sunny Chan, Michael Tse
Verdict: Okay, there's someone inside whom I detest a lot, and seriously just the poster itself bores me to death. Will be condemning this before I ever see anything.
Growing Through Life
Cast: Damien Lau, Raymond Lam, Bosco Wong, Toby Leung
Verdict: Is this another [The Drive of Life]? Because if it is, I will definitely be watching it! The only downside to the show is that Myolie is not acting inside this drama, and I think Ray will be paired up with some cheena person. Boo! Okay, will be watching this, but not chasing it!
Forensic Heroes III
Cast: Kevin Cheng, Frankie Lam, Bobby Auyeung
Verdict: Are you sure Frankie and Bobby are going to be in there? I've heard that they wanted Kevin to be the lead and to be frank, FH without Bobby and Frankie is like lame. I've not watched FH and FH2, but if FH3 does not have Bobby, well that doesn't give me any incentive to watch.
Here Comes The Princess
Cast: Charmaine Sheh, Moses Chan, Kenneth Ma, Fala Chen, Linda Chung, Susanna Kwan, Raymond Wong
Verdict: This was rumoured to be the sequel to [Beyond The Realm of Conscience], but somehow it looks more comical than anything else! There's no one whom I particularly watch out for, will be waiting for reviews of it before deciding whether to watch it.
Twilight Investigation
Cast: Wong Hei, Linda Chung, Raymond Wong, Johnson Lee, Power Chan, Kingdom Yuen
Verdict: Wow, Linda seems to be in a lot of series this year! Raymond Wong too! This show kind of looks interesting, and I like seeing Wong Hei act comical. Haha, but I will be again looking out for reviews before deciding whether to watch it.
Not a bad year for 2010 in terms of TVB dramas! While I'm sure MDC will continue to haunt me with their kinda substandard dramas, I'll be looking forward to next year's dramas!

Synopsis
While the saying “Like father, like son” holds true for most fathers and sons, it does not for CHOR FAN (Sunny Chan) and CHOR TSZ (Ron Ng). There is a world of difference between their personalities, manners of dealing with people and even goals in life. FAN is an out-and-out 60’s person, whereas TSZ believes he is well ahead of the 21st century. A thought-provoking time travel modern comedy, A Chip Off the Old Block reminds audience of the Chinese saying “Man is not born to greatness, he achieves it by his own efforts.” TSZ is accidentally sent back from the 21st century to the 1960s. He befriends his father, who is a young man then. FAN puts TSZ up in his place, where TSZ comes to know the stingy KO SHAN CHEUN (John Chiang), who runs a noodle stall, the shrewish landlady TAM LAN CHING (Gigi Wong), the argumentative CHING LAN FUN (Shirley Yeung), who later becomes his sweetheart, and LEUNG PIN PIN (Nancy Wu), who comes from a rich family. TSZ is always abusing and offending people. Other tenants, especially corrupt sergeant NGAU CHING WING (Yuen Siu Cheung), hate him very much. Except for FAN, who always defends him and even later introduces him a job at a department store. In the 60’s now, TSZ however is as flamboyant as when he is in the 21st century. He finds FAN being too old-fashioned and kind-hearted. He almost makes other tenants homeless once, and he tries to destroy FAN and SO FUNG NI’s (Myolie Wu) relationship. Later when he realizes his wrong doings, he is shocked to know that...

Hmm, I've heard about the filming for this show, but I'm somewhat hesitant on watching it. Maybe it's because I don't feel anything for the three leads, but I'm pretty sure Shuyi will watch it!

All right! The official nomination list for the 42th TVB Anniversary Awards is out! Wow, I must say, I've waited a looooong time for it. Apparently, TVB decided to push it back later so they they could incorporate the two latest dramas into the list - Beyond the Realm of Conscience and Born Rich.
Biased, I must say. But this makes the win all the more worthy right? Although I feel quite sorry for Rosy Business, because if those two series were not in, it would have definitely won Best Drama. More on that later though! I'll be posting up my thoughts on who will win and who should win.
Green ticks on the boxes refer to those whom I think will win in the Anniversary Awards. I'll be blogging about who should win below. Here goes:
Best Actor: Who will win: It's down to a fight between Wayne Lai and Gallen Lo. While I'm totally torn between both of them, it'll be good if both of them can get the award!
Who should win: Wayne Lai. Com'on, give the man his award already! Although I'm a huge fan of Gallen, but I think this should be Wayne's year.
Best Actress: Who will win: I've heard rumors that Sheren Tang won't win this year because she doesn't have an actual contract with TVB. But I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and trust that they will give the award to Sheren who was overlooked for her role in La Femme Desperado! Tavia Yeung is another hot favourite after her stunning role in Moonlight Resonance, and she has a high chance of getting it as well.
Who should win: Sheren Tang. Her role in Rosy Business as 'Sei Lai Lai' was so powerful and good that my mum has been talking about her ever since she watched the series! And yes, give Sheren an award already!
Best Supporting Actor: Who will win: I feel this isn't a very outstanding list, but the two most outstanding ones will be Michael Tse and Ron Ng. Much has been said about Michael's role in E.U. as 'Laughing Gor' and he has really worked hard these few years. Ron, who has often been criticised for his wooden acting, did marvellously in Rosy Business. Not to mention, I love the themesong for Rosy Business as well!
Who should win: Michael Tse. Again, his role in La Femme Desperado was overlooked and he has consistently been doing well. Frankly, 'Laughing Gor' was quite a huge factor in me continuing with E.U.
Best Supporting Actress: Who will win: Susan Tse or Michelle Yim. I hated Susan in Rosy Business, but she had to do a damn good job in order for me to hate her right? And well, Michelle has always been good in her acting. And although I haven't seen Beyond the Realm of Conscience, I've heard that Susanna and Michelle did a pretty good job inside!
Who should win: This is a tough choice. I somehow think Michelle Yim will edge out Susan Tse slightly. Hence, my vote goes to Michelle Yim.
Most Favourite Male Character: Who will win: Seriously, if Wayne Lai doesn't win Best Actor, then he should all the more win Most Favourite Male Character for 'Chai Gau'. However, this is a tougher fight than Best Actor, simply because, Michael Tse is also included in the nominations for his role as 'Laughing Gor'. And Gallen is too for his role in Born Rich.
Who should win: It's either Wayne Lai or Michael Tse. Both their characters have been very widely spoken throughout this year and praised for their acting.
Most Favourite Female Character: Who will win: How come it seems that the females have a tougher fight than the males? I'm guessing either Tavia Yeung or Sheren Tang will win. But there're a few dark horses, namely Charmaine Sheh in You're Hired and Kathy Chow in E.U. This will be an interesting fight. Haha!
Who should win: I'm really rooting for Sheren Tang to win this. If not, Kathy Chow should win for her role as 'Sam Jie' in E.U. Although it was not spectacular, but Kathy brought the character to life with her acting. Needless to say, 'Sei Lai Lai' was marvellous that up till now, everyone is talking about it.
Most Improved Actor: Who will win: I have a feeling it'll be Raymond Wong who wins it.
Who should win: I don't have any impressions of all these people, but the most likely person will be Raymond Wong.
Most Improved Actress: Who will win: Wow, last year's nominees had Tavia and Nancy inside. This year... Aimee Chan and Sharon Chan?! Seems to be a drop in standards yeah. I have no one in mind particularly, but Aimee and Sharon should be fighting for it.
Who should win: Sharon Chan.
Best Drama: Who will win: If not for the fact that Beyond and Born were included, I would have definitely chosen Rosy Business to win. For the simple fact, the show was perfect. It had great acting, great cast, great script and everything about it was good! However, it's not a 'Anniversary series', so chances of it winning might be low. E.U. might have an outside chance of winning as well. But the fight would probably be between Beyond, Born and Rosy.

Well well, I see alot from the three anniversary series namely, The Gem of Life, Born Rich and Beyond the Realm of Conscience. I see Sheren inside for Rosy Business! Whee! And Wayne for Rosy Business as well! Although I think the winners should be from the three anniversary series, but I hope Sheren can take away the 'Best Actress' award, when she should have won it in 2006 for La Femme Desperado!
My thoughts on who will win and who should win will come soon! Till then... pray for your favourites!

Synopsis
Imperial Household Bureau is responsible for managing and directing all household services to the Emperor and the Imperial family in Tong Dynasty. It is comprised of four departments, namely Jewels, Attire, Food and Furnishings. LAU SAM HO (Charmaine Sheh) and YIU KAM LING (Tavia Yeung) are introduced into the bureau in their tender age and brought up in the disciplines of the palace. The two girls are diligent. YUEN TSUI WAN (Susanna Kwan), Head of the Jewels, and CHUNG SUET HA (Michelle Yim), Head of the Attire, are both very fond of HO for she is a kind-hearted young girl. Soon, they start fighting for the fellowship of HO.
HO always remembers her mother’s words left to her before she passed away, that she was told, ‘Doing good deeds, Speaking good words, Showing goodwill’. She lives her life of being gracious and kind-hearted in the palace. On the other hand, LING believes her survival in palace is achieved through cruel and calculating tactics. She cheats and schemes her way to the top and finally becomes the concubine. Though she realizes that HO has fallen in love with the chess master KO HIN YEUNG (Kevin Cheng), her jealousy still arouses by HO’s attraction to the Emperor LEE YI (Moses Chan). Fearing that she is losing power, she ruthlessly makes up a false allegation against HO for murdering the Empress (Mary Hon) and condemns her to death. No matter how clever she is to scheme, things do not go the way she planned. By using a strong comparison of the two distinctive characters, HO and LING, the message of the drama is that “benevolence” is the only way to gain final victory.
